This was another favorite of mine. Reading it, I had a feeling the author was using personal experience as inspiration--and this is confirmed in her notes. I found it to be impeccably written and rich with emotion. I loved the question, "How does a person perform nobly in Hell?"...and the answer is not one I'll soon forget. Lovely piece. Instant fan.

I loved that question, too, but the line that followed—“You plant flowers,” she hissed. “You feed the birds, while they’re burning.”—is quite possibly the greatest line we've ever published.

No doubt. I should have made it clearer, but that's exactly what I meant when I said "...and the answer is not one I'll soon forget." Crazy good writing that gives you the kind of shivers writing should.

This one floored me when I first read it...I want to recall it that it floored us all.

There was a lot of standing in the ST manor foyer, gobsmacked.
