What a creepy little tale! This one both surprised and amazed me. Ties for my favorite of the issue.

Have you read anything else by Schweitzer, any of his collections? He's brilliant.

I used to subscribe to Weird Tales, way back, and a story by Darrell would pop up from time to time. I'd pigeon-holed him as more of a sci-fi/fantasy writer than a horror writer. But man did he hit this one out of the park.

He's definitely got a lot of that stuff out there, but his collection Transients is horror/dark fantasy. His novella Living with the Dead is also wonderfully creepy. And it might have the best town name I've ever come across: Old Corpsenberg.

He's not all fantasy, you know. He should be much more popular among the horror crowd.

Yeah, He's great.

It hurts my heart how little respect he seems to get...from the horror camp.

Those books Ken cited are awesome.

This was a creepy one.
