Very cool. Great ending. Reads like one of those classic one-punch horror tales reminiscent of Bradbury, Matheson, or Robert Bloch.

This one disturbed me.

Maybe it's because I'm always stabbing myself when I do the dishes...

This is one of my favorites - has been since the contest she wrote it for. It's got a great balance. Are the speculative element and narrator for real, or is the narrator completely reliable and this her crazy justification for a self-mutilating condition? At the same time it tackles a serious subject, it hits it with more than an ounce of whimsy.

I'm with Bouch. This is definitely a favorite of mine and one of those stories that I wish I'd written. Smile

The ST cover art that was used in the prompt is one of my favorites and "Little Knife Houses" certainly does it justice. This story made me keep a closer eye on my knives.
