I agree, they'll probably just stick with "Game of Thrones" throughout the series. Honestly, the concept of playing the political game reaches throughout all of the books so far, with different groups and houses constantly jockeying into prime position to take hold of the throne. So I think it works either way.

Also, yeah, that finale was awesome. I'd read the books, but that final scene was still mind-blowingly, crotch-explodingly amazing.

Here's an interview with Sean Bean on GOT and his departure from the show.

I guess they figured A Song of Ice and Fire was too enigmatic. Game of Thrones is a far better title IMO.

So...first new cast member for season two is: Natalie Dormer.

HBO’s Game of Thrones has made its first casting hire for season 2:

Natalie Dormer, who memorably played the seductive and doomed Anne Boleyn on Showtime’s The Tudors, has been added to the fantasy drama’s regular cast.

Dormer will play Margaery Tyrell, a (minor spoiler alert) beautiful and shrewd young woman from the influential House Tyrell. She’s pledged to marry the late King Robert’s brother, Renly Baratheon, as part of House Tyrell’s support for his bid to seize the Iron Throne from King Joffrey.

In addition to The Tudors (where, appropriately enough for joining the decapitation-filled Thrones, her character was beheaded) Dormer is also appearing in the upcoming Captain America.
Man, this girl was SO HOT in The Tudors. I didn't really think so at first, but as her character was seducing King Henry, she was also seducing me. I was like a 14-year-old boy again by the end of season one. Haha.

I guess that means you are happy with the choice? Laughing I can't wait to see who they pick for Stannis, Davos, and Dolorous Edd! I just hope they nab James Purefoy for Stannis.

I'm excited to see what they do with Jaqen H'ghar. The cloak over his face in the last episode was mean. lol

Wow! Thirteen? Nice. Bodes well for the series continuing beyond two seasons.

From Martin's blog:

And yesterday morning we learned that DANCE had the highest first day sales totals of any work of fiction released this year. Not just SF and fantasy, but all categories of fiction.
That's awesome! For all the shit he took, he deserves it. The quote, not the shit he took. Haha.

He does deserve it. I'm going pretty slowly because I'm bouncing back and forth between Feast and Dance, but so far I'm loving it.

Lots of new casting news. I really liked Stephen Dillane as Jefferson in John Adams.

Yeah, lots of good choices again. The choice for Brienne doesn't seem right, though. Yeah, she's tall, but she's also far from hideous. Even without makeup, she's still not ugly.

Then again, an ugly giant of a woman is probably hard to find in the film industry. Haha.

The giant part is hard, but ugly can be added later. Smile

Less than a week! I've been watching the first season again to get me back in the swing of it, but NOT re-reading A Clash of Kings. I'm tempted, but I want to rediscover the events onscreen with a bit more of a fresh eye. If I re-read the book, I'm afraid I'll nit pick too much.

I'm keeping cable specifically to watch this series. Gonna re-watch season one, too, since I just bought it.

My sister's birthday was on Thursday, so I'm gonna make some lemon cakes to celebrate both season 2 and her b'day.

I only recently saw the first season, and I have to say I was hella impressed. They really did a wonderful book justice. There was a lot of nudity and sex that felt very "Hey, it's cable so we have to show this stuff because we can" and actually distracted from the story in my opinion, but that's always true on pay cable shows. I thought this was a stellar production.

The only time I was bothered by the sex was during that scene where Little Finger was instructing the girls. Sure, I loved watching the girls, but the whole scene was just too much, I though. In terms of story, of course. As visual candy, it rocked. =)

Oh, and though I don't enjoy seeing penis at all, I did find it absurd that when Theon got done screwing that one girl his hoo-ha was totally a split second later. I realize you can't show boner on HBO, so why show anything at all?

And this is the ridiculous, pointless kind of stuff I notice from day to day. Haha.

The nudity can be distracting. As a heterosexual male, I know I shouldn't complain, but some of it is just jammed in there (no puns... please) so gratuitously, it's distracting. What is with this all-of-a-sudden major character Roz? The only prostitute that I can recall as a character in ASOIAF is Shae, and she serves a purpose. Rox is just there as a foil for More Boobs as far as I can see.
