City of Lost Children
What a beautiful film. I watched it years ago but had the opportunity to re-watch it last night. The visuals stick with you long after the film ends. And check out the cover. I mean a mad scientist kidnapping children and stealing their dreams so that he will live forever? So creepy.
This is one of my faves. If you have the chance to watch it, take advantage.

One of my faves, as well.
Have you seen "Delicatessen", from the same directors?

Re: City of Lost Children
City of Lost Children is freaking awesome. That cover used to freak me out when I was younger and saw it on the vhs at the rental stores (remember those things?! When red and blue boxes were the size of stores and had real people in them to talk shop to?). Not that it in any way can compare to City of Lost Children, but Jean-Pierre Jeunet also directed Alien Resurrection and brought with him Ron Pearlman and Dominique Pinon for a quirky City reunion of sorts. Alien purists hate Resurrection, but Jeunet's visual style and attention to character detail is perfect for Joss Whedon's writing style (which also emphasises character detail). I wish they'd do more projects together...
