I have to post a prompt for the challenge tomorrow, and I have no idea how to take a photo on my computer and post it here. Someone help...?

I usually take pics I find on the net. I right click and click properties.

Highlight the link info and paste it in the box that opens when you click the image opt in the tool bar above the text boxes here.

I'm pretty sure the picture needs to be hosted somewhere online, like photobucket or something to use that method.

Ken will probably saunter in here and get all techy-cool on thsi.

I used to have a photobucket account once, but I'll have to see if I remember any of my information.

Worst case scenario. Send it to me by 7:45 and I can post it for you.

Got back into photobucket, think I can do it. I'll decide on a picture tomorrow night, put it in photobucket then prompt away.

Re: Pictures

When Rose Blackthorn posted her picture prompt she emailed me to find out how. After some playing around, this is what I figured out with respect to pics stored on your hard drive. Hope it helps.

**

So, when you go to post a message, there are a bunch of icons at the top of the box. One of them says host image. If you click that and then click browse, it allows you to choose an image from your hard drive. Then you click "host", which brings up three boxes ...the last one is a URL. I then copied the URL for the pic. Then, I clicked Image and pasted the url into the link box, clicked ok and then sent my message. It seems to have worked.....

I'm sure that's a confusing mess...I never claimed to be good at giving instructions. Let me know if it works for you...or if you can't figure it out....we'll get it between now and Saturday!

Either way would work fine, hosting it here, or using a photobucket account. Just don't hotlink, where you post a picture that is hosted somewhere else. That is verboten! batter

What do you mean, "hosting it here"?

You can host a picture here, such as an avatar, using the appropriate code. I've done it.

All of this is like listening to someone speak a language I don't speak. urls and hosting and the like. lol Hopefully the photobucket will work fine, I want to do an imagine this time. In fact, I'm going to practice now with a pick that will NOT be the prompt tonight. I repeat, this will not be the prompt tonight.

That'll be the cover of the Halloween collection I should have next month. I figured I could practice and do a little advance promotion all at the same time. Laughing

Yep. Except for the extra BB code. When you copy from Photobucket like that (when it already had the [ IMG] code), you can just paste it right into the post; you don't have to put it in the image box.

That another Sideshow release? Looks like Tom's work.

Yup, Sideshow is my home, the only publisher that seems interested in working with me more than once. Razz Although Tom did also do my cover for my digital Bad Moon Books release. He's my cover artist of choice.

He is a busy man, but ask him. Can't hurt, and I know he respects you so probably would want to work with you. His artwork is very distinctive. The covers of TALES FROM THE MIDNIGHT SHIFT and A LAYMON KIND OF NIGHT I think are great.

Some of his interior artwork is fantastic, too.

I pitched a chapbook idea to him a month or so ago...he is notorious slow in respinding to emails...so be warned.

I'm not ready to pitch anything to him yet. I have to re-write the story ("The Amazing Vinnie Stitcher") first. I'm going to try to do it soon, so maybe if it's done before Rock and Shock I can ask him then.

That story would be perfect for illustration.
