Flooding

Post by Shiney on Thu Sep 08, 2011 2:51 pm

Shiney manor is nestled on a hill so I'm good....but all around me is watery chaos.

The end of the street in Hummelstown...

Between the coasters over at Hearshy Park.

The view of town from the wife's second job...

This ones the worst. ZooAmerica at the park is flooded and the habitat for the bison flooded so quickly they could not get the pair out. They had to euthanize them. All the fucking hippies in the area cried and bitched but like the park rep said, "Did you want us to watch them swim til they tired and then suffer drowning." A day later and the level is even higher.

Oh my god, Shiney, that flooding is horrible. My heart hurts looking at the bottom picture. Softhearted vegan animal rights girl, here. Stay safe and dry, as best as you can.

They closed several areas in our neck of the woods due to flooding, too. I wish Mother Nature would send this rain to Texas, where it's sorely needed, instead.

Your pictures made me go cold, quite honestly. It's a beautiful sunny day here, and it doesn't seem fair at all. Take care, please.

That is so awful, and having the visual makes it even more real.

I wish nothing but the best.

Yes, I agree. If they could not get them out, euthanasia was the kindest choice.

Re: Flooding

The waters were too fast...it and with all the roads into Hershey flooded over, they couldn't get in anything to help, it would have required a cranr or hoist vehicle. Tragic but watching them drown would have been worse.

I'm fairly lucky in that I live on this hill and aside from a leaky roof upstairs, we're safe and sound. A LOT of my neighbors in surrounding towns aren't as lucky.

So any prayers and good juju would be appreciated for them.

Geez, that's hard. That last picture especially. As bad as it is to have houses and such flooded, stuff can be replaced.

Stay safe you all up north. Been lucky so far here in VA. I know the river's high, but I don't think the Valley's seen much flooding so far.

We went through a flood scare earlier this year...we're not far from a river, but we're up a bit so while people on the other side of the highway got it bad we lucked out. Flooding was getting so bad around here that deer were starting to creep into the neighborhood.

Deer, man. Those things are frightening with their gentle eyes and demure manner.

You guys keep safe out there.

We get deer in town all the time here. Idiots put out feed blocks for them, like they are pets.

Thoughts with everyone out there.

Deer aren't so bad, nice and tasty Wink nice lean meat and the tenderloin YUM!

(Sorry Damien - carnivore on the lose)

But seriously, if they get over populated then they start getting disease. We had an outbreak of Hoof and Mouth a few years ago. Seeing a deer stumbling around with bald patches is kind of scary!

I can't even fathom what a disruption and destroyer floods of that caliber must be to families. Looks terrible, my thoughts are with your community Shiney.

Will do. You do the same.

Actually more concerned about car bombs this week than flooding. Fucking DC, I swear. Earthquakes, floods, savages with things that go BOOM. It's almost like someone, I won't mention who (hint: it's God) is pissed off at this town.
