New Dimmu Borgir ...

Bit of a different sound with the departure of Vortex and Mustis. A good album though:

Oh, they also do a cool Deep Purple cover on this album. Anyone remember Perfect Strangers, from the mid-80s?

You mean the new sound is different, or Dimmu Borgir in general? Smile

If you don't know them, this is probably their most popular song of years past (good stuff):

It's a bit heavier than I generally delve...but I meant in regards to the cover version....it's different.

They're cool, just not something I could listen to often... Smile

I hear ya. I like Dimmu, but I've got to be in a certain mood to listen to them Smile

Hmmm...I always thought they'd be too black metally for me, but that first clip is pretty bad-ass. Did they start out straight up black metal and then kind of morph into a groovier band, like so many others? I can dig the style in the first video. I love stuff like that.

It reminds me of a band call Mylidian, actually. In part, anyway.

Maybe not the best song to show off what I mean. Haha. But hey, it's a sweet song.

Hey nice song Kenwood. I am not familiar with those guys but I am going to check them out.

Dimmu was definitely more straightforward black metal in their old stuff, and they evolved to a more symphonic style. Even though their old stuff was more straight forward in terms of black metal, I like it. Here's the opening song off an early album of theirs called Stormblast that I think is cool (really an intro until nearly the 4 min mark):
