Jacob's Ladder

Post by Tall Tyrion on Fri Oct 17, 2008 10:37 pm

Now THIS is a classic, but not one that I see mentioned very often. It's so good, I don't even mind that Tim Robbins is in it. lol

I love the way the creepy effects are used, quick flashes here and there, good build up, and although the ending is a well-used one, it completely caught me off guard. Excellent film! headbang

EDIT: I thought you said Tim Robbins IS a massive dong.... Laughing

I was actually referring to the dong, not the movie.

I watched this when it first came out and shat my scruds. Didn't understand what the fuck was going on, but it still scared me.

Watched it again a couple of months ago - still scary, but understood it more. Very sad film too. Lots of depth.

And as far as his dong, ha ha, anybody seen Watchmen? I did last night. Dr Manhattan? WTF is that?!

This is a Shiney top 10 movie...fan-fucking-tastic. It's surreal and brilliant...

I took the wife to see this when we were dating...she hated it and does to this day. I watch it often when noone is around.

JOHN SKIPP included it in his "face Of God moments in horror film" list in the "Book Of Lists:Horror"...

I haven't seen it. Is this one that I need to watch with a friend? By myself? With a knife handy?

There are several scenes that are vrey disturbing, but it's not so much gore as it is a sense of being horrified because your whole world has become unhinged from reality. A filmed nightmare it a good description. It a definite creep-fest. There is nudity as well, just so you know.

Mmmm, breasts...*drool*

Sorry, lost my choo-choo of thought there for a moment. Where was I? Oh yeah, one thing about this movie that I’ll never forgive it for: it introduced the whole “head shaking so fast back and forth that it’s a blur but body not moving thing” that has since been done to death and ruined by so many other movies. But yeah, like pretty much everyone else here, it is a great flick and worth a watch.
