Y&T bassist Phil Kennemore passes away

Post by Shiney on Fri Jan 07, 2011 2:23 pm

Alot of you younger kids won't even know who Y&T were.

In a perfect world they would have been as big, maybe bigger than VAN HALEN and KISS....They were one of the west coats shining spots in the late 70's and all through the 80's....

In the 90's when hard rock grew unpopular, they soldiered on, doing what they did, regardless.

A killer live act and a solid hard rock force.

Their bass player, Phil Kennemore, lost his year long battle with lung cancer this morning.

Sad. RIP!!

Sad. Cancer is so ruthless.

If you never delved into them, Ken...you ought to. Killer band!

Oh, yeah. I have a couple albums. Contagious and Ten. My collection is surely lacking, though.

Damn. I loved these guys. I still have all their stuff on vinyl. I saw them live a couple times back in the 80's. Awesome live band.

RIP.

Good albums, but the earlier stuff is even better. Black Tiger and Mean Streak are my faves, and Open Fire is a great live set with a few new studio songs.

Yeah, Black Tiger and Mean Streak were their best ones, as I recall. Great stuff. Sorry to hear this sad news.
