If what they do with season 3 in any way mirrors what happens in the comics (and I'm fairly certain it will), T Dog will be Rick's new Shane (before he went crazy). I felt that Andrea was going to die as well, but she's pretty central to the comics as a sharpshooter so I feel she'll be around for a while. Plus, she's blown up because of this show where as Dale, well... let's just say it was better for him to die in the show when he did rather than be a double amputee/cannibal victim.
Speaking of amputees, I hope this season really brings the gore to the characters like it did in the comics!

Hehe. It's a great series from the start, but I think it got really good in seasons 2 and 3.

If so, Ken, you're one of the very few who seem to have enjoyed season two. Welcome to the club, man!

I liked 2 a lot. Although by its end, I didn't like any of the characters.

This season is kicking ass, weekly. Although I'm not sure I get the whole Governor storyline...I mean I get that they are revealing his skeeviness slowly but whatever the fuck his deal is...I'm getting bored with it.

What I disliked about season 1, and it was a very mild dislike, is that I felt it lack character development or drama. That's why I loved season 2. Sure, some episodes were a bit slow, but I think a lot of it was necessary to set up future episodes and even this current season.

I won't give anything away for Merc's sake, but I definitely liked season 2 more than season 1. And season 3 has been outstanding.

Patience, John, patience. If things play out the way it looks like they're going to, I think the setup of his character will look much, much better in hindsight.

I've loved the build up of the Governor. I'm gonna read the two tie-in novels soon.

I can't not watch this show.

That being said, there is not a single character that I give two shits about. If anything, I'm rooting for a few of them to die.

I totally appreciate you guys not giving anything away on season 3. See, I'm still here with Shane and Dale running around, though thanks to some of you not using the SPOILER tags, I know they'll turf it in the next few episodes. Screeeeeehooooooooow you!

I'm surprised how much I like it, though, considering that zombies aren't that interesting to me. I like Glenn and Daryl. I wish Andrea, Lori, and Carl would get killed. Although it was all over Facebook that Lori gets put down by Carl in season 3, so.

Are you still on season one? If so, you still got some time with some of those characters. =)

Was I the only one that liked Lori's character? I actually thought she was one of the most truthful female depictions I've come across on TV.

Still waiting to see it -- I think we must be a week behind you in the UK. My only complaint about season three is the group staying within easy striking distance of an enemy when they could have moved on. It's not like they found paradise. It's a prison with bad memories and zombies. If they had any sense they would move along and make their own Woodbury, surely?

On the whole, though, season three has been the best so far, I think. I thought season two was weak and lacked drama in too many episodes.

Season 2 was all about character shading.

My point precisely -- it was supposed to be about zombies. Somebody said AMC had sacked all the writers and cut the budget at the end of season one. I'm not sure if that was true, but it certainly seemed that way to me. Season two lacked direction, IMO. There was at least one episode, probably more like three, if memory serves, which didn't even have a zombie in them.

Watched the season three finale this morning. ***spoilers*** Apart from Andrea's part, I liked it. For her to sit in a locked room with somebody who was obviously dying and having a nice little chat with him instead of getting on with the business of freeing herself lacked verisimilitude. In reality she would have appreciated the danger and worked at freeing herself while talking. Got to question why the two gunmen with the governor stood cowering while he committed mass murder, too. I think most people would have shot him while they had the chance, and before he shot them. All in all, though, I thought season three was good. Plenty of action, lots of zombies, some good new characters. Roll on season four. What say thee? Very Happy

THE WALKING DEAD is a human drama with Zombies as setting.

If you're expecting more, then disappointment will be your reward.

You could say that about any genre. Every story is drama set against a background, whether it be sci-fi, horror, war, whatever. The thing is, without some kind of persistent threat, or the appearance of some kind of contextual marker, like a zombie, you are left with a plain old drama, and if it's not sufficiently dramatic you're left with nothing much to get your teeth into. Each to their own, I suppose. Personally, I nearly gave up on season two, because I got to the end of several episodes feeling like I had wasted my time. Thankfully, season three has had a lot more action in it.

I do wonder whether there is a problem with the budget for the show, because the prison is a cheap location to film at, as is the fictional Woodbury -- perhaps this is why they are used as locations week in week out. Same with the farmhouse in season two -- it's a cheap location to film at. Season one shot all over the place, had great special effects (except the very obviously CGI explosion at the season climax), yet season two stayed mostly in one place, had very little in the way of special effects. I wouldn't be surprised if the executives at AMC suddenly had a change of heart about the budget when they saw they had a hit series on their hands, and gave the producers more to play with on season three.
