Re: HALFORD!
I haven't heard it. But then, the only Priest albums I like are Sad Wings of Destiny, Sin After Sin, and Stained Class. I don't know why, but I never got into them after that. Not even with British Steel.
What about Ripper Owens after Priest? I liked his stuff with Iced Earth, but apparently he has his own band now. Anyone heard it?

Who is Halford?

And Steerpike, I like a load of JP, with one of my favorites being Painkiller. As for Ripper Owens, I kind of liked the 1st Priest album with him, but hated the second one he was on. I sort of dug him with Iced Earth, but honestly I was very happy to see Matt Barlow return as he is the voice of IE for me. I haven't heard Ripper's new solo stuff, but I would bet it's good. Regardless, you just reminded me of it, so thanks, I'll have to give it a listen.

Yeah, I like Matt Barlow a lot.
I may have to give some other Priest albums a try. I never really listened to Painkiller, for example. I stopped after Hell Bent for Leather and British Steel.

I've heard a rumor that he and Lou St. Paul are going to be working on a new Winter's Bane cd, but nothing has appeared so far...

Ah...I now understand. He's the guy that had opera training, right? Someone once told me that, a long, long time ago.

Not too sure of his formal training, but he certainly has that sort of range and power.

I don't listen to it everyday or anything, but it is still in my seven cd home stereo changer. Regular rotation.
