I actually feel more saddened for her than horrified.

Yeah that is sad. Thanks for bumming me out.
Man I need some juvenile dick and fart jokes right now to cheer me back up. Quick, to the Kevin Smith movies!

Now that I've read my subject title again, it sounds rather flippant and insensitive. But when I read the story, all I could think of was the William Faulkner short story. Hopefully this woman will be given the assistance she needs.

I read that in the news paper this morning! They were quite sensitive to her and didn't dwell on how bizarre it really is. I think the part that broke my heart was how she regularly "fixed" her sister's face. The image of lovingly putting makeup on a corpse is unforgettable.

Very sad. It is a shame that lawfully, she is viewed as a criminal.

And you know... there's a very creepy, sad and deeply macabre story in that one sentence or two. I think her love for her family is lovely... and yes, sad, but still. To love your family so intensely...

I agree with you guys - terrible, yet still beautiful. No matter how strange her actions were, it was done out of love and I'm glad the journalist seemed to respect that.
Re: Life imitates art: "A Rose For Emily"?
I think it's beautiful. Not sad at all.

It is, Kerr. Now you have to empty out your family house!
Well, it IS sad, not just beautiful. It's incredibly disturbing. I'm glad there's respect for her, as there should be, but there's obviously something else going on.

And as we all know, it's the something else that we are about. Right? It would be mighty interesting if we all took a stab at this in our spare time to see how the same original story sprouts different legs. No?

You must be reading my mind, Kerr. I was thinking the same thing.
