The Human Centipede: First Sequence

Post by dgrintalis on Wed May 19, 2010 7:53 pm

I much prefer creep to gore, but when I saw the trailer for this one, I knew I had to see it because of the concept...chilling! Anyway, I saw it and have to say the gore was far, far less than I anticipated. Dieter Laser did an awesome, campy job as the so-obviously a nutcase doctor. I loved the twisted way it ended, but it was heartwrenching. It was a disturbing flick, but I enjoyed it nonetheless.

And now the sequel will be 25 people long! Shocked

Gore used to be my thing, but I'm not into it so much anymore and I didn't care for the gender subtext going on with this one.

Probably in the minority, but I didn't really care for this one. I found the two girls kind of unlikable, and for me the movie seemed more focused on presenting it's shocking idea than actually telling a story about the people involved.

Nope, you're spot on. Shitty movie. Silly fun, but nothing remarkable.

Just from the concept alone, I never had a desire to see it. Probably never will.

I'm still sad that we watched Tokyo Gore Police and not Santa Sangre for STSF. Sad

Not me. I typically find horror movies boring. While TGP sucked, it was hilarious. I would have hated the other one, I think.

Tokyo Gore Police was so out of control it actually became a pretty good comedy about 5 minutes in. What is the other one like this? Machine Girl? Something like that.

You'd like SANTA SANGRE, Ken.

it's not quite horror....more like "Psycho" set in a mexican circus. Sort of.

I hope Kurt gives that back someday!

Yes, Machine Girl. With the machine gun prosthetic leg and twirling boob drills of death. Dear god that was hilarious.

Didn't see any comments about HC 2. Thought I'd chime in. I liked it. It's a "different" type o' film I favor different. Shot in b/w, the main character has little or no dialogue, save for the occaional grunt (insert John Boden joke here), and the shrink is my kind of pervert. I liked the first film too. The Dr is over-the-top and I would have loved to have been present at the pitch session. Seriously how does this type of film get made? Glad that it does and the fact that you can buy the orginal at Target gives me hope for humanity. Plus Human Centipede the game - killer.
