NY City

Post by Kmzone on Sun Apr 18, 2010 2:15 pm

Hey All!

So I have a question I'd love to pose to everyone. (I do hope it's okay to post it in here) I am venturing on my maiden voyage to New York City next week (My husband surprised me with tickets to Tim Burton's art show at MoMa!!) we will be there four days and neither of us is fairly traveled.

I found out where The Ghostbusters firehouse is in Tribeca and we're planning on jaunting over to Chinatown, and of course Central Park. But other than that we are at a loss.

Now, I got an NFT guide book because we aren't really the touristy
types and we want to really expeirence New York. Has anyone got any
good suggestions, places to eat, anything that we might be able to do
to fill up our four days worth of all-on-our-own no kids time?

Thanks for any suggestions Very Happy

I don't know much, as I've only been there twice. Once as a teen, where I met a douchey Trent Reznor even before fame, and then last year. If you like knock-off Coach bags, and other things, then go to Canal Street. Be warned, though, it's sketchy. You'll be going into vans with no windows, dingy basements below Asian grocery shops, through hidden panels in walls and up into hot, cramped lofts loaded with pocketbooks and stuff, but if you stay in the busy areas you should be fine.

And don't be a pushover, either! You can get nearly all pocketbooks for less than $35. =)

Thanks Ken.

I think we're just going to try to expeirence the food and stuff. Maybe find some music stores and smaller art gallery's We don't have a TON of money to spend. So shopping is pretty much going to be out this time.

and Trent Reznor used to come into my store all of the time bc he grew up about thirty minutes from where I work. I knew people who went to school with him and stuff, of course that was a long time ago and I don't remember if they said he was jerky or not. I never got to wait on him, just heard he came in and walked around and stuff. I've no actual opinion on him. *shrugs* sorry he was douchy to you tho.

He was a jerk to a friend. She was actually a fan of Pretty Hate Machine, which had just come out. Very few people knew who he was at the time, you know. But he treated her like crap.

I haven't been to NY since I was eight, so I'm sorry that I can't be any help. But I'm so excited for you! It sounds like it'll be a lot of fun.
