Zombieland

Post by Tall Tyrion on Tue Feb 09, 2010 10:39 pm

No discussion of this one yet? Great take on the much overused zombie movie genre, IMO.

Funnier that Shaun of the Dead (which was great, no mistake), and a KILLER cameo by Bill Murray. I know some peeps here want to chat about this one.

Loved it, would like to see another one (there's talk of one), but I did like Shaun of the Dead more. However, still a great flick. Hell, it made my Top 13 of 2009 list (plug, plug, plug Wink )

Frankly, I'm sceptical about a sequel... they rarely turn out well.

Much love for Zombieland. I didn't like Shaun of the Dead at all, so there is no comparing them for me. Hell, my kids loved Zombieland. They laughed throughout the whole thing.

With Shaun, I think it helps if you have a big appreciation of all things English. lots of very dryly witty bits in that film.

I liked Zombieland quite a bit. I love Zombie movies in general and will watch even the crappiest ones.

Shaun of the Dead was pretty good itself.

What I liked most about Zombieland is that for the most part the people acted how I'd like to think I'd act if such a thing happened.

Also, for big time zombie fans (like me), Shaun is just chock full of in jokes. Am I the only one here that smiled when they expertly reproduced the best kill in any zombie movie ever? Yes, Iím talking about Capt. Rhodes death from Day of the Dead. And thatís just one of the nods for fans of the dreaded ďzedĒ word to find in that film.

I really want to see Zombieland. I loved Shaun of the Dead, but it is very British (though, that's a good thing. Too much Brit-Horror tries to emulate American trends. No disrespect, but there are big cultural differences which should make for very different films).

I'll check if it' out on DVD...

I liked the British aspects of Shaun...and when I saw it I had recently returned from a trip there, so I was even more meaningful to me.

Hey, Brits have given me my biggest obsession in the last 10 years - The Office - so yay for Brits!

Plus after a trip to England in high school, I was painting my nails blue, green, and purple TWO YEARS before I could find those colors in the states.

I LMAO with Zombieland. I knew it was going to be a winner from the moment the RULES came up and Rule #2 was "Cardio" showing him running around in a circle while the zombies chased him had me rolling in my seat.

Great movie, good laughs. Fabulous, fabulous, fabulous action scenes. Bravo!

It is official, they are making a Zombieland 2. Hereís hoping it is as good as the first one. The good news is that it looks to have the writers, director, and stars of the first flick back in it, so at least thatís something.
