Night of the Hunter

Post by Tall Tyrion on Fri Oct 03, 2008 2:39 am

Any other fans of this long lost gem? Robert Mitchem is utterly mesmerising as the murderous itinerant preacher, Harry Powell. The tension as he pursues the children to get the money their father stole is built up superbly and kept high for an unbelievably long time. It really puts you in the place of those kids, frightened, powerless and on the run from a maniacal murderer. Superb!

Best line is when Mrs Spoon says (speaking about her role in sex) "I've been married to Walt that long (40 years) and I swear in all that time I just lie there thinkin' about my canning."

Fantastic movie...the book is great as well....

They remade it into a horrid made for TV travesty a few years ago, but I refused to watch it...

I'm ashamed to say I've never seen this one. Always wanted to, though. I haven't read the book either -- I need to remedy that soon, as I do have a copy lying around here somewhere.

This thread has gone horribly, horribly wrong. And I accept absolutely NO fault for that.
