David Morrell

Any other fans here? He mostly writes suspense thrillers nowadays, but in the beginning, he did write horror. The Totem was his only straight-up horror novel, but there are hints alsewhere, plus great short stories (Orange Is for Anguish, Blue for Insanity from Doug Winters' Prime Evil anothology remains one of my favorite short stories of all time). The Brotherhood of The Rose Trilogy is a classic, as is The Fifth Profession.

And yes, he did write First Blood, the novel upon which the Rambo movies are based, although the books are far better than the movies, as usual.

Nothing is better than Rambo.

Never read Morell, though.

You should. Start with Brotherhood of the Rose.

Just got the latest Cemetery Dance in the mail on Saturday. He's got a tale in it. So I'll give that a go. I'm not starting another damn novel until I finish the eight I have going right now! Haha.

I love David Morrell’s stuff. For those interested, Cemetery Dance put out a collection a few years back of all (or at least most) of Morrell’s horror/thriller stuff. It’s called BLACK EVENING and it’s very good, I highly recommend.
