You just lost a million cool points. Are you serious? These are the two movies that play ceaselessly on Saturday afternoons. They come on, you roll your eyes, and suddenly feel motivated to go for a jog. Or shave your head. Or do anything rather than subject yourself to this cruelty again.

Like Castaway.

Funny you should mention Waterworld, because at the same time Costner made Waterworld he was the producer behind a much better movie that was a kind of bookend to Waterworld called Rapa Nui, about the last days of Easter Island. It's basically about two tribes -- the Long Ears and the Short Ears -- and their constant one-upsmanship that leads to the destruction of the island's natural resources, civil war, and eventual self-extinction. Talk about scenery. Definitely worth a rental.

Rapa Nui is similar to Apocalypto, but on a much smaller scale.

Never heard of it, but I'll check it.

And I loved Castaway.

The dialogue to Castaway:

"Auuuuuugh!"

"Errrgggghhh!"

Silence. Silence.

"Auuuuuuughhhh!"

*a fire burns*

"Noooooooo!"

The famous "Wiiiiiiiillllsoooooooon!"

*crying*

Aw, man, I loved Castaway. If it was a woman stranded on a desert island talking to a makeup mirror would that have done it for you?

Isn't that just stolen from Dr. Suesses book The Sneeches? I always liked the Star Belly Sneeches the best.

Castaway rules!

It was a show about misery. And it was four million hours long. Without dialogue. I went to the midnight showing and it nearly killed me.

The only other movie that I ever fell asleep in was The Hunt For Red October. Oh, and Twister.

Mercedes is listing all the classics!!! I'm a sucker for the big epic pictures.

One of the greatest moments in movie history is when the oil gimp says;

"Oh, thank God."

Just finished this book.

Spoiler:
Holy bleakness, Batman! I just finished and the only thing I could think of doing was thanking God for my wife and girls and the good life I have. At least the ending had that glimmer of hope. I need a cup of good cheer!

Exsqueese me? I'll grant you that having Alec Baldwin playing Jack Ryan is like casting Mr Bean as the new James Bond, but Sean Connery totally makes up for it! HFRO is a good film...

And Twister? You must have had too many bong hits, because that is an edge of the seat thrill ride.

Dude, Mr. Bean as the new James Bond would be awesome!
