That was some great slightly surfy 60's infused goodness....

They have like 3 comps out in the last 4 years, one was put out by a label that's based like 5 minutes from where i live!

Those are the 3.......

That was great, they totally draw from that whole Buck Owens/Bakersfield sound that i love so much.

That was a great song, it would do well covered methinks cause the 80's production sorta lets it down for me.

I'm surprised at your indifference to Turbonegro considering your love of the Dictators, Dead Boys, Dolls, Coop, 80's Sunset Stripper Metal etc which they are basically a brilliant blend of.

Stranger remind me of NWOBHM era Budgie (Particuarly in the vocals) when they embraced a more melodic hard rock direction or even of Axe a bit, residing in that no man's land between AOR and Metal in the pre MTV Hair Band daze..........

You'd really dig Cockney Rebel, they got lumped in with the whole Brit Glam phenom in the 70's but were in reality brilliant art pop with flair. They were up there with Roxy Music and Bowie imo, Steve Harley is one of the forgotten geniuses of music!

I saw DANDELION open for NUDESWIRL/MONSTER MAGNET/WHITE ZOMBIE back in 93....they were killer.

TUMBLEWEED....Ken sent me their cd not long ago...not bad but pretty standard grunge to me....

That would of been Weedseed right, pretty average release but it was a compilation of early singles/b-sides (I think some of it was produced by Mark Arm) etc. If you come across them you need the full length records S/T (1992) and Galactaphonic (1995), their minor classics of psychedelic garage metal. Think the 13th Floor Elevators dropping acid with Black Sabbath on the Australian surf coast!

What can be said of Fred Cole and Dead Moon, nothing i haven't already gushed before.

How wonderfully Thin Lizzy like is the Nick Lowe track.

I've heard the Tall Boys but i don't know why i hadn't checked them out yet. Brilliant post-Cramps psychedelic blues.

Interesting Disaster song. Pretty raw and yet melodic. Not groundbreaking, but nice.

For my volley, I'll change the pace a bit and present a Cody Chesnutt song that came out in 2002, off of what I personally think is the greatest independent record ever produced.

Time to get involved in this quite-cool thread.

I dig "Disaster"....and Balor (THANKS FOR JOINING IN!!! I thought FB and I were gonna be playing it on our own forever....)

Cody ChestnuTT reminds me of late 70's soul & blues tinged with light rock...pretty decent.

EXCELLENT! My cousin's band (which usually plays around the New Bedford, MA area) covers that song! Robinson rocks!

Again, though, to shift gears. Here's some Regina (ah...Regina) for ya.

Woo someone else playing.

She has quite an interesting kinda childlike voice, love the guitars. One of those post-Cocteau Twins dream pop bands that are actually good and never fall into the trap of godawful shoegaze.

That was cool....nice sugary vocals with churning and roiling post-punk guitars....were it slower and darker it would have reminded me of JAWBOX.....

Purple and Green flaked psychedelic funk grunge like only the early 90's could produce, to risk blasphemy it almost approaches Mother Love Bone at times.

LOUDHOUSE.....featuring the former vocalist of late 80's sleaze/hair metallers TUFF LUCK....and when LOUDHOUSE broke up and the singer left the drummer started singing they became 90's Alternative popster SPONGE....

Your pick was loud and cool....Never heard of them...

The Cosmic Psychos are like Motorhead with Ron Asheton's destructo wah wah guitar and dragged through the irreverant and brash 70's Australian pub rock of Buffalo/Rose Tattoo/X. They had this great sorta cultivated backwards image like Tad except instead of Lumberjacks of the pacific north-west think Farmers of southern Australia, Yowie instead of Sasquatch! Mark Arm, Kurt Cobain, Buzz Osbourne and Eddie Vedder raved about them which is probably the reason they gotted signed to Sub Pop and Butch Vig who had just produced a little record called Nevermind produced their forth album Blokes You Can Trust (1991). L7 also covered the song i posted. Just another one of those great unheralded bands and influences of "Grunge" from the 80's Australian rockscape!

That Joe Henry song is really cool, really atmospheric and mysterious. Worth further investigation no doubt........
