So that was what Sharkey did after he left the incredible Undertones............hmmm. I guess anything you do after such a great band is going to pale particularly a band like the Undertones. Pretty standard Northern Soul rave up as only the 80's could render it.

Not bad....Never dug to heavily into them...as I seem to recall eharing their name in conjunction with the GRATEFUL DEAD for some reason...which is a red flag to me...

Dig, dig, dig why don't you. I don't know where the Grateful Dead come into the Only Ones orbit. Singer/songwriter/guitarist Peter Perrett was Johnny Thunders right hand man live and on record when he made So Alone, Keith Richards liked the Only Ones so much he wanted to produce them but upon discovering the state Perrett was in backed away........you can guess what for!

Perrett is England's greatest songwriter imo bar none not even Ray Davies, he's like Keith Richards, Bob Dylan, Syd Barrett and Lou Reed rolled into one! The Only Ones/Perrett are a massive influence on any band that matters since from The Replacements to the Jacobites, The Scientists to the Dogs d'Amour, Manic Street Preachers to the Soft Boys and countless others!

Sorry for my rant but their like the greatest thing ever, brilliant pop songs wrapped in snarky narcissicm about doomed urban romance and dark alleyways. I'll post a reply vid in a sec.

That was a great bit of psychedelic pop with Shoegaze's penchant for dreamy layered vocals which was really the only appeal of one of the most useless music trends ever. Really good, it comes near Spiritualized's cosmic goo at times too.

This is some pretty interesting post-hardcore, a world away from the karate kicking breakdown fringe/beard bands of today that get that tag. This seems to be have been dragged through the golden era of Touch And Go records and it's shared love of the quirks of the Birthday Party. Quite accessible and interesting at the same time.

That was okay...The music was cool but the vox made me think of lackluster English college rock circa mid 90's...

Pretty good Rockabilly......... but i recently asked myself how much Rockabilly does one need in life?...........not much really. Anything not outside the box or without a quirk or something different really doesn't need further exploring in my book. That's my lame reasoning just to stop myself being flooded by the plethora of Neo-Rockabilly/Psychobilly acts these days.

Wow...that was noisy and cool? I've heard the name but never the group...who are they? Very early 80's sounding...but with a JON SPENCER abandon.

Those guitars are crying in pain aren't they.............how do i explain to you the greatness of the Black Lips, one of thee greatest bands of this sad and sorry decade/century/millenium/whatever?

Their early records which include the wonderfully titled "We Did Not Know the Forest Spirit Made the Flowers Grow" are like the sound of the Sonics and the Birthday Party trying to escape out of sardine tin, but only one survives! Production, what production! Not for "Hysteria" fans.

My favourite record of there's is "Good Bad Not Evil", which is like a garage blender of bent country, 60's Peruvian Punk bands, girl groups on acid and the graveyard scene from Easy Rider! For all it's eccentricities it's got a great pop sensibility about it, the first place to start for those new to the Black Lips.

As for the Rattlebones, great skeletal rootsy filth dragged through my favourite part of the junkyard of sleaze. A really endearing bit of euro trash, i hear potential.

Sloan are one of those bands i've always heard about but never got round to for some reason. Only song i've heard before was "Good In Everyone" which i liked, this is another good song. Guitar noise and Harmonies were always a good combo.

This ain't your average delta Blues, a unique slide style utilizing a kitchen knife in his strumming hand. Unique sound. Really really cool.

KJ is frontman for the Chamber Strings who are imo the greatest band of the last 10 years despite frustratingly having released only 2 records due to KJ's descent into heroin, homelessness and hell!

The song Ragdoll is from an earlier band of his the Rosehips which released the greatest undiscovered gem of the 90's "Soul Veronique In Parchment" (1994), more stripped down rock n' roll than the Brian Wilson pop soul ambition of the Chamber Strings it bleeds KJ's love of the Dogs d'Amour/Jacobites as well as usual suspects Stones, Faces, Bowie, Kinks, Only Ones, Soul Music etc. Good luck finding it though.

No shit, i reckon i was about to post the Laughing Hyenas too. I can't really say how much i love this band. First heard them on a Scientists tribute and they blew me away. Sub Pop had Mudhoney and Touch And Go had the Laughing Hyenas and i think that's a good comparison. My fave is Hard Times when they revved up the Stones raunch for Beasts Of Bourbon like results.

feedtime (deliberate lowercase) were an Australian band that came from that whole Rose Tattoo/X thing but slowed it down and deconstructed rock n' roll to it's bare minimum (they were basically a minimalist art band, but the heaviest/loudest art band going around). They had this devastating slide guitar going throughout their music that had this kind of suction to it. This push and pull, a kinda drone. It's very hard to explain.

Sub Pop/Mudhoney/Big Black etc were massively influenced and they had a sizeable following in Europe but their rarely talked about nowadays.

I love Cage The Elephant. That album of their's is really groovy. Full of all manner of R&B, Funk, Blues, Punk, Soul & Rock N' Roll goodness. But all kinda processed into something modern that wouldn't be outta place on the dancefloor of indie club.
