good list, Balor.

I just watched DEAD RINGERS the other day, and recently (finally) got THE CREEPING FLESH on dvd.

I disagree REQUIEM FOR A DREAM, is totally horror.

Guess what? I don't watch much horror film. Haha. Strange, right? Love it on paper, don't really care for it on film.

Favorite horror films? Man I could list a bunch, but I’ll try to keep it brief.

NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD
DAWN OF THE DEAD
DAY OF THE DEAD
THE EXORCIST (best horror film EVER!)
THE CHANGLING (the George C. Scott flick)
FRIGHT NIGHT
RETURN OF THE LIVING DEAD
JOHN CARPENTER’S THE THING
HALLOWEEN (you’ve got to watch that this time of year)
CREEPSHOW (big time fun)
NEAR DARK (I agree with Shiney)
THE HAUNTING (the original b&w, not the p.o.s. remake)
THE DESCENT
EVIL DEAD (all of them)
ALIEN (yes it is a horror film)
NIGHT OF THE CREEPS (which is coming out on DVD and Blu-ray at long last! Smile )
AMERICAN WEREWOLF IN LONDON (just showed this to my lady friend for her 1st time, great to see it through her eyes)
DOG SOLIDERS
THE HOWLING
GINGER SNAPS (ok enough with the werewolves)
FRIDAY THE 13TH (any of the silly flicks, I'm a fan, what can I say?)
30 DAYS OF NIGHT (nasty, evil, non-emo and not sparkly vampires? Yes please!)
HIGH TENSION (Haute Tension for you Francophiles)
INSIDE
MARTYERS (ok, enough with the French films)
RE-ANIMATOR

…and that’s enough for now.

PROPHECY (the mutant Grizzly Bear one)

I have watched this movie more than any other movie ever. I've made it a minor cult-classic on two college campuses, had the mutant baby bear mewling as my answering machine message in college (I could imitate it spot-on then, still not bad) and use this movie as further proof that Talia Shire was miserable on-screen more than any actress in history.

Katadan!!

This past Summer a new generation of Douglas' were introduced to this classic. My youngest requested an encore performance.

Dead Alive

Evil Dead II

An American Werewolf in London

THE EXORCIST

RETURN OF THE LIVING DEAD (Still creeps me out big-time)

JOHN CARPENTER’S THE THING (jaw-dropping)
HALLOWEEN - Every year!

CREEPSHOW - I want my Father's Day Cake!

EVIL DEAD (all of them)

ALIEN - I was 6 when I saw it. Spent the night on my parent's bedroom floor. Still in the top-5 Pantheon

FRIDAY THE 13TH

RE-ANIMATOR (classic gore!)

Circus Of Fear
Corpse Bride

I'm with you on The Dark Crystal and the Riddick Movies. Which, yes, makes you a poseur.

And Disney's The Black Cauldron came out when I was in first grade, right? Scared the tar out of me in such a delightful, delightful way.

I was so angry when I read the Prydain chronicles, though, and got the 'real' story of the Black Cauldron. Thought the movie had robbed me, although in retrospect it does a marvelous job of taking inspiration from a series of books and turning it into a mostly coherent normal sized movie. I think more movies from books should be based on rather than recreations thereof, generally makes for a better movie than the paragraph by paragraph but editted into choppy boring would've.

I was absolutely NUTS about that series! I read them all, and forayed into Alexander's other works as well, although nothing else hit me as strongly. They really stimulated my imagination.

Okay, here's my ten pence (in no particular order):

Night Of The Living Dead
Dawn......
Day......
Evil Dead
Evil Dead 2
Army Of Darkness (I know, not a horror, but you gotta love it)
Event Horizon
Fright Night
Psycho
Wolf Creek
The Strangers
Halloween
Demons (it scared the shit out of me as a kid)
Lost Boys (c'mon, people!)
28 Days Later
Re-Animator (yeah! I'd forgotten about that one, Brian)
30 Days Of Night
The Thing (John Carpenter)
1408 (yes, I actually did find this one unsettling - on a side note, it's pretty much the only short story that shit me up when I read it)

I'm sure I'll think of more as they come!

Not many scary movies these days, folks. Can't wait for The Crazies though!

Wow.... not enough time now, but I'll get back to this. Gotta fix dinner and my son is anxious to get back to Jeepers Creepers (which is good, but won't be making my list).

I liked JEEPERS CREEPERS...I liked JEEPERS CREEPERS 2 better actually...I wish there was an eence more backstory on "The Creeper" but I can deal with it...in it's present vagueness.
