Not to mention he's dead.

Which means this person will probably just pick another pseudonym and keep on doing it.

An interesting character, it would seem, and if he lives on the Wirral he's only a couple of miles away from me. I'll pop over and say Mercredeses sent me.

Better wear body armor, Seven. I don't think we're on his list of favorite people right now.

A very nice blog, Ken, about a subject I knew was out there, but one you (or at least I) don’t usually think about until the too blatant examples are shown. It’s amazing what some people have the nerve (and lack of shame) to do, and that they can so easily get away with it.

I saw this on Twitter yesterday (I think). It kinda ties in with what we were saying about movie remakes. Why would you? Why on earth would you? At least the remakes are honest about being what they are. You don't steal from someone like Stephen King, pass it off as your own and think you won't get caught. For Christ's sake, son, use your head. Millions and MILLIONS of readers can't be wrong.

What if, Dick, you had made it big? What if you become this hotshot writer (which we all wanna)? Do you think people aren't going to notice your work sounds eerily similar to all the people you ripped off, that they won't come looking for you, that you won't be revealed as the fraud you are? This really pisses me off. I bet this prick has made buckets of cash getting little stories here and there posted. The police should be involved - snatch his computer, get hold of his ISP, find out where he's been posting, the names he's been using, etc etc, then let all the REAL owners of the material know. Let them sue this motherfucker til he's using the paper he printed his stolen shit on to keep himself warm in the nights, having lost everything and is kipping in the street.

Ah dude, you fucking blew it. I hope it all comes crashing down on your tiny little head.

Anyway, rant kinda over. I'm still pissed, but what else is there to say? Cock.

Blowing off steam is totally in order. I've been stomping around and raving. Because yes, it's King, but it's also little writers. Friends. Associates. He's been pulling from magazines that I was frickin' in! If I find my work anywhere under his name, I'll burn him to the ground with my eyes, I kid you not.

I'm also hearing from members of the British Fantasy Society that they're getting his work, too. Go take 'em out, Cate and Seven! SevenCate.

That's gotta be his name, right? I mean, how do these zines pay? That's genuine question. Surely they need a name to make the cheques out to.

Burn him with your eyes? Really? Show me how.

And as already pointed out, people who do this just paint themselves into a corner. Sooner or later, someone realizes "Hey, I've seen this before!" and it's all over Shocked

Paypal - he'd only need an email address, and I think mostly they were FTL

Oh, it's an inherent talent, Andrew. But if you're truly dedicated, I can take you as a eye-burning student.

This isn't his name. He's going by at least two names that we're aware of. Also, paypal makes things a lot more anonymous if he wants to go that route.

Did you read the second blog post? It's mine. Smile

Sorry, just switched to iPhone.

Yeah I read it earlier. Ha ha. You're causing quite a stir! It's really nice to see people's reactions to this though. Passionate!

And as far as the eye thing, will the powers ruin my sunglasses? I like my sunglasses.

Re: Plagiarism

I'm delighted at how everybody is responding. They are really angry, and rightfully so. At first I was a little leery about coming out so publicly, but after I read Angel's post and saw that it was happening to other authors, not just King, that made my decision for me.

It is tough being a writer. There's not much money in it, there's not much respect in it, and it's hard as sin to break into the business. And then there's some jerk like this running around? Not only is he stealing from STEPHEN KING (and sending it to different fantasy mags as well) but he's stealing from people that I know! People that I know work hard and are struggling as writers. I'm just aghast.

Also, to realize that he is an editor of a magazine that is just about to launch. So people would be sending their work in freely, so he can plagiarize at will. It makes me ill.

Sunglasses will not be damaged. You simply raise them so that they can feel the full force of your burning gaze. It'll all work out.

And Seven, I am enamored by your little penguin signature. It's mesmerizing.

Paula Ray, if I were you, I would contact Ruby Queen, send her your link, and tell her if she does not remove the piece ASAP and post an apology for reprinting published material without your consent (and without giving proper credit to the author), you will contact legal representation. Also, take screen shots of the piece on her site.

If you want, I will leave a comment on her blog with a link to the original piece, asking if she contacted you for permission.

how do you take screen shots- do mean just snap a pic of her page to prove it later -or is screen shot something more technical I just don't know about?

Just hit the Print Screen key on your keyboard. It's typically above the Insert, Home, End, etc keys.

Also, that's some bullshit.

Well, she's "just a fat little lesbian trying to lose weight and get fit." That's what they do. Haha.

Anyone know who this is?

This is plagiarized: http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=2955867

If that's not Ruby Queen, she's also been plagiarized. As have these people:

This is plagiarized: http://www.sparkpeople.com/mypage_public_journal_individual.asp?blog_id=2831191

And she has tons of other stuff posted in her blog thingy. I imagine much more is stolen...
