Rec / Quarantine

Post by andrewkempster on Fri Sep 11, 2009 5:53 pm

I watched Rec a couple of months ago - after seeing the trailer I was itching to have a look. It was okay, suffered from a bit of turbo lag (took a bit to get going! Man I'm the shit!), but was worth a look.

And then I saw Quarantine a few weeks ago; it was awesome. Like the original, took a bit to get rolling, but once it was spinning, Jesus on a moped it was wicked. Shit my pants on more than one occasion.

Highly recommend it.

As far as being better than the book, I guess there probably isn't one. Sorry.

Echo this. I thought this was a pretty darn good "zombie" flick.

When I watched Blair Witch Project in the theater, I had to lie down afterwards. I was so nauseous and it triggered a migraine! But Cloverfield and the others that I watched at home were just fine.

I don't mind them. I adjust after a few minutes and get lost in the story.

I enjoyed Cloverfield quite a bit as well.

I liked Quarantine quite a bit. None of these sorts of movies bother me, although I had a hard time adjusting to Blair Witch the first time I saw it.

Seen both and like the original much more. The “zombies” were better in it, I thought, also…
Spoiler:
I liked the religious, possession-turned-to-science angle of the Spanish original. Also the end zombie of the original was far, far, FAR more freaky then the end zombie in the American version. So if you haven’t seen REC yet, I say give it a shot.
Oh, and I’m not one of those snobs that think the original, foreign films are always better than the American remakes. Case in point: I like the remake of The Ring much more than the original Ringu.
