Carcass Appreciation Thread

Post by Balor on Sun Aug 30, 2009 2:01 pm

I hope I'm not the only one, but I want to dedicate this to, in my mind, the greatest Death Metal band that ever existed. Long live grindcore!

Great band, got to see them a few weeks ago headlining Bloodstock festival. Was great fun. I've never been a huge fan of their earlier stuff (although I like it in moderation), but Heartwork is a brilliant album.

See, not so much of a fan of Heartwork. But I DO think Necrotism might be on my short list of greatest albums ever made.

Different strokes, I guess.

You must hate Swansong then, haha. I always was a sucker for melodic death metal which is why I like Heartwork - it was sort of the formative version of the sub-genre along with stuff like At The Gates' Slaughter of the Soul. But with both bands, whilst I don't dislike the earlier stuff, I never got in to it as much as I did those specific albums. Different strokes indeed!

CARCASS were always a cut above the death tag.....I'd rank them with DEATH, ATHEIST and BELIEVER for the technical end of things...

Never cared for Carcass, though I did listen to them back when I wasn't so open-minded about death metal.

One of the greats. You might even say, the UK's other "Fab Four."

"Greatest Death Metal"? Isn't that one of those... whatchacallums?

Like... "Government Efficiency..." or "Military Intelligence..." or "Microsoft Works..." One of those?

OK... so after I made my joke above, I watched the video. I enjoyed it very much for about 45 seconds. I was ready to retract my comments until... he started singing.

Seriously... I can sing much better than this, and I suck...

Great band, but...

Sorry, ignore me. I'm just old, but I do think some attempt should be made to sing.

lmao

So I guess it's time to put the codger down, then. Shall I do it, or would somebody else like to do the honors?

I like CARCASS in small doses...which is about how I feel when it comes to 97% of the deathly stuff out there...Even bands like CYNIC and BELIEVER....I love 'em but can only take a few songs before I need to wash it down with some old cheesy hair metal or 80's AOR...
