Re: Praise/Criticism of Issue #1

Hey everyone. Hope this is the right place to chuck this up (yark). If not, feel free to shout.

It's taken me a few weeks to get through it (cos I been busy and shit, innit!), but I finally finished Issue 1 last night, and I thoroughly enjoyed. The quality of the hardware was tough enough to endure weeks of being slung in my manbag (Pass me a beer), thrown on the floor, being bent this way and that. As of last night, the magazine's spine remains intact, the actual magazine is still flat, and the only mark is a crease on the back cover where it got trapped under a laptop. Sweet.

Delivery: I was expecting to receive the magazine some time in late September, but it turned up within a fortnight of ordering from the States. Nice.

Stories (and poem): excellent choice of submissions, guys. Every story I enjoyed - I won't go into the nuts and guts of each one (unless you want me to) - and it gave the feeling of reading something that had received a lot of time and attention.

Interviews and reviews: I didn't actually expect any of these. Leading up the launch of Issue 1, I didn't spend a lot of time reading up on what the contents would be. I was pleasantly surprised to find these - well written bits of journalism amongst the weirdness. Was nice to kinda get to know a couple of authors.

Once I get home tomorrow, Issue 1 is going up on the shelf.

Thanks for the awesome read.

Andrew

PS - The artwork was perfect for the feel of the magazine. Dark and subtle.

Andreeeeeeew! Thanks, buddy! You WBBS cats don't be strangers, eh? Of course, maybe I should take my own advice and start posting over there more. Haha.

I will soon! Gotta try a challenge soon; it's been too long. Anyway, thanks again!

Jeez I haven't posted any stories myself for a LONG time. Anything I churn out turns to shat. God, it was a year a go I was like 'Oh I am so gonna submit to Cemetery Dance.' Aaaahahahaha. Plumbob. Who knows, maybe I'll sub to Shock.

New laptop arriving tomorrow, so maybe a new tool (and a shed load of Sol) will help spur something on.

Hey, when you guys are all rich mofos remember us poor scribblers when we need to sub something to pay the heating bill!

I give the issue two thumbs up. I've begun circulating it amongst friends to spread the word.

Nothing lame about that, I’m sure the ST folks are happy for the good word of mouth. I say, keep it up.

Yeah, it's the best I can do. I think it's a cool publication; it's rare that I see something that has good writing, that I like, and that doesn't have trash interspersed throughout.

Seriously, though. I think it's immensely satisfying to have people tell us this, and many people have. Especially after running the gauntlet of angry authors early on. It's not vindication, but it's something I'm proud of.

But it's really the authors that deserve most of the credit.
