Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland

Post by Mercedes on Wed Jul 01, 2009 4:57 pm

I am so looking forward to this one! Alice in Wonderland has always been a favorite. Delightfully creepy and whimsical. The Red Queen gave me fits. I can only imagine that Tim Burton will do a great job.

Booooo! I'm sure it'll be cool, but I'm so sick of remakes. This guy should be making original stuff. He's too good.

Besides Sweeney Todd, has Tim Burton done another remake?

Oh come on, you bitter man. It's Alice in Wonderland. Alice in Wonderland!!!

Yeah, he did Willy Wonka before Sweeney Todd. I think Corpse Bride may have been between them.

See? Imaginary Kurt is on my side. The trailer looks incredible, and very, very creepy.

I'd love to see Alice In Wonderland put on screen properly, and I'm betting Tim Burton is the guy to do it.

Have you guys seen the new trailer for it? Ken, you'll be pleased to know that it won't be a remake at ALL. A completely new story full of the bizarro characters that we all know and love. *swoon*

Tim Burton also did the remake of Planet of the Apes.

I love him, but I agree - he needs to make more original stuff. Edward Scissorhands was a masterpiece.

It could be that he wants to do an original project, but the studio locks him into movies that are considered to be a sure thing.

Okay, I just saw the movie last night and I have been dying to get in here... but I didn't want to give anything away (even though it's my favorite story and I'm obsessed with Alice in Wonderland)

I liked the movie, but there were some parts that were reminiscent of Frank Beddor's Alyss Heart trilogy. I'm wondering if Tim Burton collaborated...

I do love Tim Burton as well, we're going to see his artwork at MoMa in April, however I do agree, something original would be nice. However, I love the fact that he is taking old classics and making them into his own.

I thought it was a beautiful movie. Exciting? No, but beautiful. I thought The Mad Hatter and Red Queen were amazing. I didn't like Alice very much, but she's basically a backdrop for the art, I thought.

See, I didn't like her at first, but once she was in Wonderland she seemed to fit right in and won me over. I really liked Tweedle Dee and Tweedle dum as well.

Anyone a fan of American McGee's spin on it? Not a movie, but fantastic.

Nightmare inducing, that's for sure. That said, after I first dyed my hair black, I went as "Malice in Wonderland" to a couple of parties. Butcher knife included.

OH! LOL!! Now my face is all red!

Sorry, my video gaming knowledge pretty much stays with Zelda and Mario... I do have to say that I am curious, still. I'll have to keep my eyes out for it either way.

I did not like the movie at all and I had been waiting eagerly to see it! I love Tim Burton but this was a miss for me. I thought it was visually stunning although I would have preferred less CGI. I got completely bored. The Red Queen was the only thing keeping me mildly entertained. Johnny Depp is usually amazing and bizarre but his Mad Hatter fell flat for me. If you want a really creepy version of Alice in Wonderland that will haunt your dreams, check out Jan Švankmajer's "Alice." I think you will enjoy it very much especially if you like stop-motion animation.
