That's just atrocious.

The town (village, really) I grew up in didn't have a book store. You had to drive 45 minutes to get to the Coles Book store and it was a teensy book store without much variety at all.

Every town should have a book store. *sigh*

I had a pair of boots quite similar to those, but they get atrociously hot here in Vegas. They're winter wear only. But awesome!

Suann, tell me how you like the Alpha Smart. I had a HP Netbook and it had the same problems as your Toshiba. I only had it a month before we were robbed, though. I named it Rainbow Sprinkles, and even though it was a pain, I miss having something portable. My laptop has been out for a while.

Years back someone I wrote with used one and swore by it, for the same reason Suann mentioned. It's limited to just writing. It holds about 15 pages at a crack, which are then easily downloaded onto your PC. The only thing I ever noticed that kind of bugged me was that some of the letters altered when she'd post online. I don't know if you can still get them online, I think they quite making them. If I could get a used one for a good price, though, I'd grab it.

I think you can actually still buy them...they've upgraded to the Dana and some other type that you can use with your palm pilot, etc. I have the AlphaSmart 3000 and it holds about 100 pages. There's 8 "files" you can save to and the total for all 8 files is about 100 pages. So far I'm finding it very good for keeping me focused when I should be writing. The screen on it only holds four lines of text so that took a little getting used to but if you are looking for something basic and simple for writing, with no distractions, the AlphaSmart is definitely it.

My friend has been using one for years and (her words) she "loves, loves, loves it". :-)

AlphaSmart Inc. is now Neo Direct Inc. You can buy brand new Neo's and Dana's at this website:

http://www.neo-direct.com/default.aspx

BUT, they almost ALWAYS have the AlphaSmart 3000 on Ebay for a much more reasonable price. (I got mine for $30.)

Hit up a thrift shop today.

Owner sold me all those for $5. Pretty sweet deal.

That fucking rules. Those Isaac Asimov's collections have some badass stuff in them.

I have a few of the year end Pb collections. Excellent.

I have a handful of those kinds of mags because Koontz had stories in them, but I've never seen that many in one place. I walked out of there happy, but totally feeling like a thief. Haha.

And I've said it before somewhere out here in the Interwilds, those old sci-fi had a lot of horror in them.

Flatmates got me a record player as a belated birthday gift, which was very sweet of them. I immediately went out and got this;

After all, it is the greatest album ever.

No, that's Def Leppard's Hysteria. And if you argue it, I'll ban you! unsure

I do love that original cover art, though.

Hysteria is definitely up there, I adore that album. There's simply not a weak track on it. Will have to pick up the vinyl at some point. However, it hasn't quite got the balls of Appetite.

New computer. Old one needs the hard drive reformatted yet again and I just don't want to deal with it anymore. By the way, does anyone want to buy a laptop?

"The Vicar of Lakefield" is a pretty well-known book. It's mad old, though, like 1700s...so I don't know how much he'll dig it. Haha.
