Ken, send me the titles of those Koontz books you were looking for so I can check the thrift shops 'round here...

They're under his pen name, Deanna Dwyer. Easiest way to look for them is to just scan the bottoms of the spines and look for the Easy Eye logo (see image). The image could possibly be on the top of the spine, too, I'm not sure; but I've only seen them on the bottom.

Pretty easy to spot. I've only seen them in black and green, but I guess they could be in red, too.

Udo is his own cat....He was looking for a Guiness Book Of World Records but there were none...so he found some home repair books and picked that one...he already has a few wiring books.

Very Happy

From books to bowls...

I had to take a trip to Home Depot to buy a new toilet. It seems the tank of my downstairs one had the audacity to develop a crack. That threw me about $200 and change. Luckily my cousin is a plumber. He installed it for me, and all he charged was a 12-pack of Sam Adams.

Haven't purchased these yet, but I surely want to. They're so elegant and tough at the same time! I'll have to register these babies as weapons.

Last week I bought a Toshiba netbook - thinking "nice, small, easy to carry around to work, to Starbucks, wherever, so that I can always have a writing tool with me".....

This week, I returned it. The only nice/good thing about it was the colour: orange! (my fave colour)

It was atrociously slow - obviously something not quite right with it - it took at least 10 minutes to boot up when you turned it on and when you typed there was a time delay from when you actually typed the letters to when they showed on the screen. Not cool at all. The tech guy at Best Buy wanted me to buy a set up package because he "could get it running much better than that if he did a setup"... um...no thanks!

So, I bought a second hand AlphaSmart - I just really need something to write on that doesn't allow me to browse the 'net cause I get too easily distracted. We'll see how that goes.

Next purchases? Hmmm....I guess I'll probably spend my hard earned money on getting my cat shaved. ;-)

Soon to be purchased for our family: a new water heater. Until then, I'm off to mop the basement.

Ugh! I feel for ya. Ours went over the Easter weekend a couple of years ago...while we were away. We came home to a lake in our bedroom and bathroom. I was not impressed.

The local bookstore (an Australian subsidiary of Borders) had a closing down sale. I got there late and the place was almost gutted, but I did manage to pick up some cheap books. Fantasy mostly, sequels to books I'd read and enjoyed but for whatever reason had never progressed further into the series. Phillip Pullman, N.K. Jemisin, etc.

That was the only bookstore in town. And in the last ten years, in the greater Wollongong area, by my reckoning the number of chain bookstores has dropped from 3 to 1, and the number of secondhand bookstores from 4 or 5 to 1.
