I haven't bought anything big in a while. The last week I've bought a bunch of books though: Peter Straub's A Dark Matter; A signed, limited edition of Tom Piccirilli's Deep into that Darkness Peering; signed, limited edition of Piccirilli's Frayed; Greg Gifune's The Bleeding Season; Shock Totem; A signed copy of Dark Discoveries issue 14; Murky Depths issue 10; Eulogies: collection, edited by Nancy Kalinta; some Apex PDF books/collections; Within His Reach by Steve Gerlach from Tasmaniac Publications, and I think that's about it. Having Paypal is effing me up. LOL.

My wife just got a new cell phone, so we had to upgrade her service to the web-thingy...

And I keep pouring money into my jeep to try to get it to stop overheating.

Shiney, drooooooooool!!

Went to a bunch of little record shops down here on the Cape...and found NOTHING! I was so depressed. Then we went to the Newbury Comics at the Cape Cod Mall, and clearly someone sold off their Ginger/Wildhearts collection. So I snatched up everything I didn't have, which was pretty much everything there.

Ginger - Break in the Weather (2CD)
Ginger - Market Harbour (w/Bonus Tracks)
Ginger - Yoni (w/Bonus Tracks)

Silver Ginger 5 - Black Leather Mojo (w/Bonus Tracks)

The Wildhearts - Anarchic Airwaves: The Wildhearts At The BBC (2CD)
The Wildhearts - Anthem: The Single Tracks
The Wildhearts - Don't Be Happy... Just Worry
The Wildhearts - Fishing For More Luckies
The Wildhearts - Stop Us If You've Heard This One Before: Vol. 1
The Wildhearts - The Wildhearts Strike Back (2CD)
The Wildhearts - The Best of The Wildhearts (2CD)

Nearly all of them came with the Japanese inserts and OBI strips. Cost me about $80 total, but well worth it. You know, though, that whoever sold them only got a fraction of that. Sad.

I also picked up:

The Upper Crust - Entitled (2CD)

You ever heard The Upper Crust? It was $1.99, but had song titles with the word "rock" in it. And though they were dressed like 17th Century aristocrats, one held a Flying V. So I gave it a go. Surprisingly good, too!

Although I assume it's meant to be more comedic than the typical rock band.

You got me Fishing for Luckies and Riff After Riff. I guess Fishing was originally a fan-club only EP release. The copy you got me, with the fish on the cover, is the authorized band reissue that came years later. The version I got yesterday is an uber rare version that was unauthorized by the band and thus never released outside of some cut-out/promo copies because it was canceled by the label once the band found out. Pretty sweet!

I found their self-titled and a CD single while in Maine in July, too. But still, there's a ton I don't have. =(

The only one I would urge you to NOT get is "Endless nameless" it is unlistenable.

Not that the songs or music is bad...but they were going for some experimental production or something and it's all hissy and staticy sounding... Crying or Very sad

Fishing For More Luckies is a challenge to find - I'm still looking for that one! I wouldn't say Endless Nameless is unlistenable. It takes a little bit to get in to with its weird production, but it's not a bad album. You have the 'Anthem' single, so just imagine that stretching out to an entire album.

On a related note, Ken and Shiney, I have a few extra copies of Wildhearts' singles. I owe you both plenty of treats, so if you're missing any of these, stake a claim and I'll send it your way! I have;

Sick of Drugs (Normal version - so not the one that would have come with a patch of grass and a sticker cover)
Caffeine Bomb (It's a slightly scuffed up digipack unfortunately, but this has some of my favourite 'hearts b-sides, like 'Girlfriend Clothes')
Red Light Green Light

I've been picking up back issues of magazines, recently. Was lucky enough to grab a ton of Interzone and Black Static at ConCarolinas, and several Weird Tales at ReaderCon.

Other than that, mostly con stuff right now!

Psst, Shiney, there were three on offer. And yeah, I love that 'Sick of Drugs' single as well - 'Underkill' is a cracking tune.

Haha, it's a single of the song 'Red Light, Green Light' which is on Fishing For Luckies (although it appears to be a different recording or remixed version of the song). Has the B-sides 'Got It On Tuesday', 'Do Anything' and 'The British All-American Home Boy Crowd' - all of which are pretty good, especially the first.

Last week's book purchases:

A Princess of Roumania and The Anubis Gates, both fantasy recommendations from a friend.

Antarctica, by Kim Stanley Robinson.

A book of Eskimo folk tales from Greenland, Canada, Alaska and Siberia.

Two books of Chinese fairytale and traditional ghost stories.

A history of dentistry.

A nonfiction book about gun smugglers.

And a book about medieval textual magic.

I bet that dentistry book is nifty.

My wife bought me an old scrapbook at the flea market today...all full of like cards and notes and stuff from someone who apparently passed away and there family got rid of their belongings....it's creepily neato.
