Then the SPIDER that had been sitting right over my eye decided to move. I realized why the ceiling looked so odd. It wasn't weird shadows, but a SPIDER that had been relaxing right over my eye.

I proved right then and there that humans are very capable of levitation, for I rose up, flew through the air and landed next to the door without once using my hands or feet. I couldn't go back to sleep until that SPIDER was the recipient of the squish treatment.

God only knows what it would have done had I not awoken. Visions of me with my head wrapped in webs still haunts me to this day.

Re: What Are Your Irrational Fears?

I have an issue with killing bugs. I used to decimate them. I'd drop a Hulk Hogan leg bomb on an ant, you know. When I lived in England, our little bungalow had all kinds of spider issues. My friend Jill lived with me then. Every time I killed a bug, she admonished me, and would show me how to set them free outside. I scoffed.

But then every time I went to kill on, I started thinking about it. Eventually I could no longer kill the fuckers. I was pissed. Haha. So now I set them free. Unless they bite me. They bite me, it's fucking ON!

Anyway, a couple years back or so, while sleeping, I felt something on my hand. Sort of tickling me. I shook my hand like crazy, reached over and turned on the light, and saw nothing. Then, over a fold in my blanket about an inch away from my face, I saw a huge, hairy leg. So naturally I screamed like a woman and flung the blanket across the room.

I found the beast, too, and unfortunately could not kill it. So I set it free. But I took some photos, because the fucker was huge!

Hmmm...seems that's the only picture I have of it online. Anyway, it was a wolf spider. Not dangerous, but nasty.

Check this out:

That's just a typical basement spider. Those fuckers never find any food. They just die. But not this guy:

That's another regular old basement spider, but that one caught a wolf spider. First time I've ever seen that. I didn't even realize they spun them up like that. I took those photos like three months ago, and that spider is still in my basement, fat as hell. Biggest one I've ever seen. I don't know if he's just fat from that one kill or if he's catching a bunch of crap.

Either way, kind of scary...

There also used to be a health spa, but we quickly burned it down 'cause we don't want any healthy people living in our town...

So on the ride to work this morning, I realized another irrational fear. You know those big, long dumbsters that you see at construction sites? They transport those on the backs of big trucks (don't ask me the size; I am from the north and we don't know that crap). Anyway, you ever get stuck driving behind one? That giant dumpster is held in place by these metal clips or whatever. Well, I always imagine that fucker in the truck doing something stupid to make that dumpster slide off the back of the truck and crush me.

These things:

Another thing that freaks me out while driving are those trucks transporting pipes. I always fear one coming loose and impaling me. Or whatever those trucks that carry logs? Scary things.

Speaking of trucks, I drive a truck very much like THIS one, transporting diesel and gasoline. I'm always afraid that some moron who can't read or just doesn't have common sense is going to walk up to me while I am unloading and light up a cigarette, igniting the fumes and sending us both sky high.

I keep a pair of shoes by the garage door. I slip these on when I take the dogs outside to pee. Sometimes I'm barefoot when I slip my foot into these shoes. Ever since the night I found a wolf spider loitering around the door (and my shoes) I've been paranoid that I'm going to put my foot into my shoe and feel something multi-legged and hairy squirming against my toes.

Ear vacuums. Whenever I hug someone with smooth skin I half expect to have the contents of my ears ripped out after they embrace me to a point where my ear and their skin become locked together, then I pull away and wrench my ear drum out.

It could get out the wax, though.

And trust me, you have TONS of it. When I joined the Air Force, they gave us all thorough ear-cleanings, and we were all HORRIFIED! Haha. When a couple cheese-wheels plop out of your ears, you quickly realize how disgusting the human body is.

After, we could hear the wind, like we had seashells up to our ears. lol

I know all about ear cleanings. I had to get mine syringed every six months when I was a sprat or face taking horrible infections. The last time I produced any wax was when I was 16 years young. Since then I seem to have dried up.

It's either that or my cotton bud habit/addiction has compacted several yards of wannabe candle up against my ear drums.

That's it. We were told after to not use Q-Tips to clean out inner ear, only the outer part. Cleaning the inner ear with those thing does exactly what you said; it compacts the wax farther back into your ear canal.

They told us to instead use hydrogen peroxide. Tried that once, and that was enough. Who wants to hear crackling sounds for a few hours? And it tickles! It does work, though.

I have a bum right ear. It does that whenever I hear a certain frequency, or when things just get too loud. (Cinema + concerts are great fun!) It also acts up when I'm chewing food or early in the morning. I hate it with a fiery, fiery passion and frequently wish I could just go deaf on one side banghead

Anyway, back to the topic at hand... er, wait. Is the topic at hand earwax? Never mind. Suspect

Flying grasshoppers absolutely terrify me. They have radar and go straight for my face and hair. Grasshoppers aren't supposed to fly, anyway.

Irrational fears? Check this out.

http://www.stumbleupon.com/toolbar/#url=http%2525253A//en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_unusual_deaths

Pay special attention to this one:

2003: Dr. Hitoshi Nikaidoh, a surgical doctor, in Houston,Texas, was decapitated as he stepped on to an elevator and the elevator malfunctioned, pinning his shoulders. His head was severed when the elevator car moved upward.

Just sayin'.
