So...World of Warcraft
I've been playing this game for like two months now. (If you call me a nerd, I will kill you! I'm the worst player out there. It just keeps me occupied when I get bored.) Anyway, there are things in the game called totems. There's one called shock, too. A shock totem.
And we once thought Shock Totem was so damn original.

Yeah, we know that. We actually e-mailed him just to sort of get his blessing. Shiney came up with the name. We were knocking around a bunch of names. Most were shitty, but a few we dug. Shock Totem was one that just grew on it. Shiney was like, "It just came to me. I don't know why." That is, until he remember he'd read the damn book in college. Haha.Flabby wrote:I came across this a while back.

But at that point we were pretty set on the name, so we rolled with it. You can copyright a title so we didn't need to get permission, but we figured it would be a nice gesture to see if Metzger would be okay with it. He was. So all is cool.

He said he may even submit a story at some point, so that would be cool.Flabby wrote:That was good of him, i guess he could have got all snotty and self righteous.

Re: So...World of Warcraft
Half the reason that I originally submitted to Shock Totem was because I liked the name.
I played WoW once! I was a skinner, but my computer didn't have the capacity to handle it. But now I have a new one, and my friend is always bugging me to do a trial again.
I mean, only geeks play WoW. >>

Me and a co-worker were discussing the game at work on Wednesday. Our other co-worker continued to make fun of us (and she was serious; she's not nice), calling us geeks and stuff. She was doing this while fucking knitting!Mercedes wrote:I mean, only geeks play WoW. >>

Of course. But sometimes I can't write, so the game helps me think. You should be writing.

Edit: the game helps you not get angry at yourself for not being able to think, pretty sure it doesn't help you think. Unless you're putting a whole lot more random dance parties in your stories now.

Yeah, but I don't play the game like normal. Sometimes I just run around and climb a mountain and /love the wildlife. I definitely allows me time to think. You play a video game so you can climb a mountain and see wildlife?
You need to move out west, dood. I can do that anytime I like...

I'm a city boy! I do think it's time I move, though. The city is starting to annoy me. I need nature.Tall Tyrion wrote:You play a video game so you can climb a mountain and see wildlife?![]()

I used to do this when playing an old computer game called Myst. I'd sit for ages in a valley filled with blossom, thinking the night away. (and i live in the countryside, big time) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Myst
Also...Have you read Tad Williams, Ken?

I loved Myst! I beat that one. Awesome game. I have up on Riven. Too hard for me. Haha. Exile I tried. Gave up on that one, too. Awesome games, though.
Never read Tad Williams.

I won't say a thing about you /loving the wildlife. Just know that I'm thinking it.
Move out, City Boy! You Easterners have a strange view of space. You stand too close together even when you don't have to. There are cities in the west, too, you know. We have running water and everything.
I play games to refresh a bit, too. Psychonauts makes me laugh hysterically. (PS2) It's a little bit dark and extremely bizarre, and the writing is clever.

Oh, and anybody who seriously thinks that gamers = geekdom is waaaay behind the times. Celebrities are getting Playstation 3 swag all of the time. Geeks are the new It boys and girls.
