Best Concert Experience
Without a doubt, this was the coolest thing I've ever seen live.
That was my first show, in '88 or '89. The behind-the-curtain editing of this video makes it seem a bit cheesy, but if you were there, in the crowd, in the dark, with that anticipation building, it was simply amazing. And when that curtain dropped...JESUS! It was just awesome.
I've seen some brilliant shows in my day, but that first song is easily the coolest thing I've ever experienced live.

Paganfest USA in Ft. Worth, Tx May 2008. Turisas especially stole the show.

Re: Best Concert Experience
I will say the best concert I had the privelege to behold was 16 HORSEPOWER. I saw them in a small dinenr theatre/bar outside of Philly. It was their mini tour for Folklore. They milled around and talked with the people in the crowd before and after. They were absolutely mesmerizing.
David Eugene is channeling a higher power to be sure, eyes rolled up white in his head while he feverishly played guitar or banjo and howled that drawling howl of his...Haunting.
I have seen tons of shows and lots if not all were great, but THAT was the best ever.

Re: Best Concert Experience
I will always hold that Def Leppard show in the highest regard, simply because it was the first. But the best concert I have ever seen was White Zombie. I mean, it was simply a spectacle to behold. It was like a twisted carny nightmare, with fireballs and clowns and...it was just frickin' awesome.
The first time I saw them was before La Sexorcisto blew up, and that was at a smaller venue, but it was still brilliant. But when they got more popular, it was like the greatest sideshow on Earth.
Nudeswirl opened that first show, and they blew me away. Their self-titled is without a doubt an album everyone needs to hear.

1994 in El Paso, Texas.... Nobody puts on a show like the Floyd.
I think I was the only sobor person there.

A close second would be David Lee Roth on the Eat 'Em And Smile tour with Vai, Sheehan and Bissonette. I think Dave thought he had to prove himself, so he was pulling out all the stops. Great show.

Re: Best Concert Experience
Has to be my first concert when I was just a little guy. I think I mentioned it here before, but my older brother took me to see the Alice Cooper show and when he cut off his own head while singing “I Love the Dead”…I was a changed person from that day on.

Re: Best Concert Experience
Is this Def Leppard video from that In The Round video? THAT was your first show? AWESOME!
I think the best concert experience I've had was Motley Crue on their Carnival of Sin tour. No opening act, something close to 3 hours, topless trapeze artists, fire breathers, the booby cam, some weird mutant little person running around, the lights, Tommy having two different percussion setups suspended in the air and swinging back and forth to them, the smoke, the fire... Pretty cool twisted carnival atmosphere.

My best concert was probably my first concert, too. Heart's "Bad Animals" tour in '87. (I think.) I was about seven years old, and my dad took me. It was so incredible! I was a huge Heart fan. Still am, but I don't like the Lovemongers sound.
Re: Best Concert Experience
Mrs. Shiney is a ginormous HEART fan as well.

Big Heart fan here, too, though I don't have but one CD. The rest are cassettes I never upgraded.
And seriously, Nancy is still a hottie!

Re: Best Concert Experience
I saw Rush some year in the mid-nineties (96?), and they opened by playing 2112 - the whole thing! I was stoked.
However, many years later that show was trumped by - of all people - Prince. My wife convinced me to go to his show in '06 where he "retired" his old catalogue. I didn't want to at first, but then caved in. Boy, was I glad I did. The dude puts on a hell of a show.

Re: Best Concert Experience
PRINCE is a musical genius. Nuff said.
I've seen RUSH like 4 times and they are great....
