Re: Avatar
Same. It was mindless eye candy. Fun, enjoyable, but totally forgettable. However for what it was I did enjoy it.

See, I like films that are 'Mindless Eye Candy'. I really do. It shames me to admit some of the movies that I enjoy.
Personally, I loved the movie. If nothing else, it shows just what is possible now. Think of Hollywood finally being able to produce stories like Pern and Neverwhere with REAL CGI!
Oh. Crap. I just burst my own bubble. Can we get a restraining order on Hollywood ever getting near another F/SF film? Please?

Re: Avatar
I'm due to see it later this month. Not overly excited...
My wife is not much of a movie goer, but she kind of summed up my feelings on the film when the trailer popped up on TV.
"Oh wait. Is that the film were going to see?...You never said it was a cartoon."
That had me laughing my arse off. I'm not big fan of CGI and as much as I like to disagree with her (marriage will do that), the wife was spot on!
Cheers

Your wife is fantastic

Re: Avatar
Yeah, the plot is basically Disney's Pocahontas. But the film really was beautiful. I was pleasantly surprised.
Re: Avatar
My son enjoyed it, I might watch it on DVD. Emphasis on might.

Re: Avatar
It was Dances with Wolves in space. But I thought it was great.
